Sea Moss Purifies Your Blood with Antioxidant Properties

Every year, billions of dollars in drugs marketed as antioxidants are manufactured and sold. This includes anything from aggressively publicizedfir, expensive products to some secretly manufactured medications. They are also highly marketed, although they are the least beneficial in terms of tangible health benefits. This is mostly due to the fact that they are not organic, as sea moss is.

Sea moss is a marine algae known as brown algae, or Chondrus crispus. It is a common ingredient in Chinese medications, Asian home cures, and, more recently, Europe. They may be found in shallow waters of cold oceans and seas worldwide. Although its mystical qualities have not been well researched, current studies have shed light on its incredible health benefits.

Sea moss as an antioxidant

One of the many health advantages of sea moss is its powerful antioxidants. It produces a wide range of molecules as primary and secondary metabolites, making it a highly efficient, natural, and organic product. Sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, and other compounds exhibit biological properties such as antifungal, antibacterial, and anticancer activity. Similarly, research indicates that sea moss has a sufficient amount of Phaeophyceae, the primary brown seaweed compounds suitable for biotechnological applications. The presence of a pigment called fucoxanthin adds to Phaeophyceae's unique brown colour. According to a study, fucoxanthin has antitumoral, antioxidant, and anti-obesity properties.

Similarly, Laminarin and fucoidan in brown algae are particularly interesting for their potential biological activity, whereas alginate is usually used as a culinary additive. Fucoidans and laminarans content, in particular, can vary from species to species, ranging from 20% to 50% of the dry algal weight, which makes it one of the foods high in antioxidant components.

Similarly, chlorophylls (a and b) and carotenoids (-carotene and xanthophylls) give Chlorophyta its characteristic green colour.

As researchers delve deeper into the positive aspects of sea moss, they have also shed light on other sea moss components that have antioxidant effects, such as vitamins, particularly vitamin B and its variants, essential amino acids, and nutrients that are effective for healthy skin, vital organs, the brain, sleep, and even detoxifying the body to rid it of any harmful substances.

This also indicates that sea moss is a perfect one size fits all product for a number of ailments and has a wide variety of implications.
